After a short period of time only, De Gruyter Oldenbourg Publishing published the second edition of the standard textbook and the manual for the Certified Financial Engineer training course called “Financial Engineering”.
The Portuguese version of the classic “Derivatives – An Authorative Guide to Derivatives for Financial Intermediaries and Investors” is published. This book is published in cooperation with Eurex and is destined for the Latin American market.
The EIFD and Deutsche Börse Capital Markets Academy start the series of seminars “Derivatives in Financial Engineering” that is offered in Frankfurt several times a year.
After the Certified Financial Engineer successful launch in Germany, the global roll-out of the certified training course “Certified Financial Engineer” in German and English takes place under the project title “Certified Financial Engineer goes global” at the following locations:

- Hong Kong

The EIFD starts the certified training course “Certified financial engineer”. The Certified Financial Engineer is offered in German and English. The Certified Financial Engineer was able to gain Deutsche Börse AG as a partner, the latter being in charge of the technical performance.
The textbook “Financial Engineering” is published by Oldenbourg Publishing. It contains the curriculum of the certified training course “Certified Financial Engineer”.
In 2009, the book “Derivatives – An Authorative Guide to Derivatives for Financial Intermediaries and Investors” is published in Mandarin and traditional Chinese. This publication was possible thanks to a cooperation between Eurex and the EIFD.
The manual on managing currency risks through derivatives, “Währungsderivate” (currency derivatives), is published by Oldenbourg Publishing in Munich.
The textbook “Derivate – Handbuch Finanzintermediäre und Investoren” is first published by Oldenbourg Publishing in Munich. This work will be published in English under the title “Derivatives – An Authorative Guide to Derivatives for Financial Intermediaries and Investors”.

The EIFD and Deutsche Börse Group cooperate in the area of Financial Engineering. This also includes advanced training programmes and training contents. In the same year, a cooperation between the EIFD and Eurex is also established.
On 23 October 2007, experts from Eurex, major banks and Börse Stuttgart discuss the subject “Derivatives – from a niche product to an all-rounder” – already about a year before the insolvency of Lehmann Brothers in the US.
- On 22 February 2007, the European Institute of Financial Engineering and Derivatives (EIFD) is established. The EIFD is an affiliated institute of the state university of applied sciences HfWU; its seat is Nürtingen.
- The EIFD's goal is to link science and practice in the area of Financial Engineering and to promote scientific exchange in the areas of Financial Engineering and derivatives.
- Qualification programmes, such as the certified training course “Certified Financial Engineer“, technical seminars and advanced training programmes, are established.
- Preparation of neutral opinions
- Publications on the subjects of Financial Engineering
